My Money Week
The eighth annual My Money Week event takes place between the 13th and 19th of June.
What is My Money Week?
My Money Week is organised by the Personal Finance Education Group (PFEG) – a leading charity that helps encourage young people to develop financial skills for work and later life. Through lesson plans, activities and competitions it aims to encourage young people to be better equipped when dealing with money.
Resources are available to download for free with schools up and down the UK taking part. While there is a whole week’s worth of activities to get involved with, many schools are integrating activities in to lesson plans in order to get involved.
You can find details of what’s involved on the PFEG website.
Our work with schools and financial education
As a business we also believe in educating young people about budgeting, finances and managing money.
The average age that children start to make online purchases from is ten years old. This is according to research carried out by PFEG.
You can read about the work we did last year with the Young Enterprise ‘Learn to Earn’ programme on our blog.
Earlier this year we also developed a board game called ‘PayDay’. The aim of the game is to introduce students of various ages to “real life” financial scenarios. These include managing a salary, paying bills, dealing with unforeseen expenses and more.
Details of this and the local schools we’ve rolled it out to can be found on the One Advice Website blog.
